Label Génération 2024
This certification rewards the school's commitment to sport through the development of sports activities for its students, through its involvement in the local sports environment, but also through sport as a subject of scientific study.

Sport: an essential component of our study programmes

Taking part in physical and sports activities is compulsory within the general engineering programme. Under the supervision of a high-quality team, students benefit from numerous sports facilities and a wide variety of activities: gymnasium, artificial pitch, climbing wall, shooting range, pontoon with direct access to the river, squash courts etc.

A strong presence in the local community

Many of our students are also involved in local community life. Centrale Nantes works to promote exchanges with partner institutions and local players and makes its sports facilities available for events that bring together all local players. The school also welcomes high-level athletes and has put implemented specific measures to support them.

Sport as a subject of research

For many years now the school has also been interested in sport as a research subject and has set up projects around human propulsion with kayaking and rowing for example, carried out in collaboration with the respective sports federations.
In the run-up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024, and to widen the bridges between scientific research and sports players, Centrale Nantes, in collaboration with the CREPS des Pays de la Loire and the Fédération Française d'Aviron (French Rowing Federation), opened up a project-based specialisation - Scientific Challenge 2024. This engineering programme specialisation aims to develop and validate a digital model of the complete boat-oar-rower system.

Upcoming projects

In the coming years, Centrale Nantes and the CREPS des Pays de la Loire will pursue their cooperation with a particular focus on virtual reality and augmented reality and their use in sport. In keeping with the school's sports policy, Centrale Nantes plans to forge even stronger links with professional clubs in Nantes by offering team building and leadership courses on campus. In addition, the school would like to be associated with large-scale events such as the Nantes International Squash Open and to encourage the hosting of high-level athletes, for example by creating a University Basketball Centre in conjunction with the university.
