Centrale Nantes gets a mention in the prestigious Wohlers Report
on May 12, 2020
The Wohlers Report 2020 provides a worldwide review and analysis of additive manufacturing (AM) and 3D printing. The report has served as the undisputed, industry-leading report on AM for more than two decades.
The 380-page report noted a global maturity of the main players in France in 2019 with major companies investing and developing their complete value chains. Cited as an example in the west of France, Naval Group's Nantes-Indret plant, equipped with a robotic cell for production, which is printing propeller blades for military ships.
As part of the European H2020 RAMSSES project, funded by the European Commission, Centrale Nantes and Naval Group printed the first hollow propeller blade demonstrator using additive metal fabrication. The picture of this propeller blade (opposite) is the sole illustration in this part of the report.
