The Times Higher Education Young University Rankings list the world’s best universities that are 50 years old or younger. The ranking is based on the same performance indicators as the flagship THE World University Rankings, but the weightings have been adjusted to give less weight to reputation.
In 2024, the rankings take into account 18 performance indicators (13 in previous years), calibrated to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry and governments.
The performance indicators are grouped into five areas:
- Teaching (the learning environment)
- Research Environment (volume, income and reputation)
- Research Quality (citation impact, research strength, research excellence and research influence)
- International Outlook (staff, students and research)
- Industry (income and patents)
Centrale Nantes stands out particularly on the industry and international outlook.
