Greenov, a start-up in the Centrale-Audencia-Ensa Incubator, receives funding of €2.39M to demonstrate its "SubSea Quieter ©" underwater noise reduction system
Greenov, a Nantes-based start-up supported by the Centrale-Audencia-Ensa Incubator in Nantes, was selected at the beginning of November by the highly selective "Accelerator" programme of the European Innovation Council (EIC). The result is a €2.39 million grant and a potential €2.5 million equity investment in the company in 2024.

The SubSea Quieter© acoustic membrane project is designed to contain underwater noise and turbidity generated by port and coastal works and by the installation of offshore wind turbine foundations by pile-driving and drilling.
Developed by the Nantes-based start-up in the Centrale - Audencia - Ensa Incubator, it now enjoys significant European support. By joining the EIC's "Accelerator" programme, Greenov will be able to finalise the demonstration of a version of the SubSea Quieter© adapted to wind turbine monopiles with a 12m-diameter on a real offshore site, before commercial launch of the technology in 2025.
SubSea Quieter© helps to protect all marine ecosystems, including cetaceans, seals, porpoises and fish. Numerous scientific studies have shown that marine works, including noisy pile-driving, generate a high level of noise which can cause serious harm - even death - to all marine animal species present, across extensive large areas.
Greenov's SubSea Quieter© project is therefore a solution to support the development of Marine Renewable Energies on the path to decarbonising the economy and securing European energy independence.
This financial support will facilitate the involvement of many industrial players who are particularly keen to innovate for the oceans - such as Bouygues TP, EQUINOR, EDF EN and Éolienne en Mer - and many laboratories of excellence such as those of Centrale Nantes, ENSTA Bretagne, Gustave Eiffel University and the CNRS.
It will also create high-tech jobs in France and Europe, where 100% of the system is designed and manufactured by partners committed to the oceans.
