Nantes runners-up in the university 3X3 basketball world championships

The Nantes University men's team was coached by Grégory Garnier, a sports teacher at Centrale Nantes.

The Nantes University men's team was in Xiamen, China from 22 to 24 November for the University 3X3 Basketball World Cup.

Grégory Garnier, who has taught sport at Centrale Nantes for almost 20 years, coaches the Nantes Université men's team. He was accompanied by Olivier Nyeck, a 2014 Centrale Nantes graduate and video and statistics assistant.

After victories over the Ecuadorians from Guayaquil and the Mongolians from Ulaanbaatar, the Nantes Université team lost in the final to the University of Kaunas (Lithuania).

The 4 players from Nantes University, accompanied by a 100% Centrale Nantes staff, took home the silver medal.

The university basketball sports section

The university basketball sports section, led by Grégory Garnier, was set up in 2021 by Centrale Nantes, Nantes University and its various partners: the French Basketball Federation, the Nantes University Sports Association (ASUN), the Nantes Central Sports Association (ASCN), the Pays de la Loire Regional Basketball League, the French University Sports Federation, the Pays de la Loire Regional University Sports League (LRSU) and the Loire-Atlantique Departmental Basketball Committee (CD44).

Open to all Centrale Nantes and Nantes University students wishing to develop a combined sporting and academic programme, the university basketball sports section offers a range of facilities for both male and female students.
