PhD student Etienne Peillard receives the IEEE Virtual Reality 2019 Best Conference Paper award in Osaka!
on March 29, 2019
The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Virtual Reality Conference is the premier international venue for the presentation of research results in the broad area of virtual reality. The 7th edition was held in Osaka, Japan from 23 to 27 March 2019 and brought together over 1000 participants for conferences, exhibitions and demonstrations around virtual reality and its applications.
Étienne Peillard, PhD student at Centrale Nantes, presented this year a paper that deals with the perception of distance in virtual environments: "Virtual Objects Look Farther on the Sides: The Anisotropy of Distance Perception in Virtual Reality". This paper was selected along with 94 others (with a 21% selection rate) to be presented at the conference and was awarded 2019 Best Conference Paper!
Congratulations to Etienne, who also won - alongside the nine other PhD students of the Inria Hybrid team - the 3DUI (3D user interfaces) contest at the same conference:
