on October 27, 2021

After a Post-Doc at Trinity College Dublin, Rebecca Fribourg joined the CRENAU research group in the Architectural and Urban Ambiences (AAU) Laboratory, as a member of faculty at Centrale Nantes (Mathematics, Computer Science and Biology Department) in September 2021.

On 4 October, she received the Séphora Berrebi Women in Advanced Mathematics & Computer Science Scholarship for her thesis "Contribution to the study of factors influencing the sense of embodiment towards avatars in virtual reality" defended at the University of Rennes 1 in the Inria/Irisa laboratories, under the supervision of Anatole Lécuyer, Ferran Argelaguet and Ludovic Hoyet.

Her thesis work focused on avatars in virtual reality, and what can influence the perception that one has of one's avatar - one's virtual body - in immersive environments.

The Séphora Berrebi Women in Advanced Mathematics & Computer Science scholarship, awarded by the Séphora Berrebi association, aims to encourage active involvement of young women in scientific research, especially in mathematics and computer science.
