Rob'autisme: Nao helping autistic children to communicate

Centrale Nantes, the Samothrace Psychotherapy Centre (Nantes University Hospital), Stereolux and the Robots! Association are holding a press conference on Rob’autisme: Nao helping autistic children to communicate.

on January 29, 2016

Since November 2014,  the Samothrace Psychotherapy Centre (Nantes University Hospital), Stereolux and the Robots association! in partnership with Centrale Nantes have run cultural workshops introducing young autistic people to the manipulation of Nao, a humanoid robot.

They have initiated an unprecedented and promising scientific experiment which continues with new workshops from January 2016. This press conference will be an opportunity to explain the origins of the Rob'autisme project, the first results obtained through this experiment and the perspectives to broaden this approach.

There will be a video presentation of the show created by the children in July 2015 which featured Nao in the main role. Stakeholders, the medical team and a parent will also be present to talk about the work carried out and its therapeutic impact.

The Robots association! aims to broaden the general public's knowledge of robots. It offers demonstrations and training, and is involved in social integration for all through the Rob'autisme and Rob'solidarité programmes. It also involved with the elderly.
