Welcoming students with disabilities or special needs

An assertive policy

  • The Disability Policy Framework 2023-25 has been approved by the Board of Governors. It was drawn up collectively by a working group made up of representatives of 8 departments and the disability coordinator (referent.handicap@ec-nantes.fr), who also monitor its implementation. Download here (in French - staff and student access only).
  • Every year for over 10 years, Centrale Nantes has offered 2 places on the Centrale-Supélec entrance exam to students with disabilities.
  • The organization of Centrale Nantes, and mainly the presence of a nurse on campus, provides for individual care. Contact is established from the beginning of the academic year between the nurse and any student with disabilities.

Daily life on campus

  • All departments in contact with students and teachers are informed about the arrangements made for students with disabilities.
  • Students with disabilities have priority access to accommodation at the Max Schmitt residence.

Campus accessibility

Buildings A, E, L and S are equipped with lifts. Ramps facilitate access to certain areas and buildings.

Apply for special arrangements and individual support

To apply for special arrangements and individual support, you need to download the procedure and follow each step. The form to fill in should be downloaded before the appointment with the nurse.

Examinations and medical arrangements

  • Examinations can be adapted to cater for disabilities and special arrangements can be put in place from the outset to ensure that students with disabilities receive the care they need.

Temporary arrangements

In the absence of special arrangements and individual support, it is possible to put in place temporary arrangements under certain conditions:

  • the need is limited in time (one-off impairment lasting less than a semester)
  • the student provides a medical certificate from the doctor (from the Student Health Service or, failing that, from his/her GP or specialist) detailing the need for special arrangements due to the one-off impairment and specifying its duration (e.g. sprained wrist making it impossible to write for 2 weeks and requiring, in the event of an planned evaluation, a re-sit examination or extra time, over a 10-day period)
  • the request must be sent by the student to Student Affairs, (exclusively by ticket please and copied to the school nurse, before the evaluations and examinations (and respecting a deadline of 5 working days before the examination if extra time is sought).

Employment

The school and employment associations can help you with your career plans.

Student Life Team (Careers Service)

This is the team that provides careers guidance for all Centrale Nantes students. The team is available to support you from the first year of your course right through to entry into the workplace. You have access to:
