Young scientist prize -Tire Technology Expo 2018 for Corentin Hermange
Corentin Hermange, PhD student at LHEEA from 2014 to 2017, won the "Young Scientist Prize" at the Tire Technology Expo 2018, presenting the results of his thesis about a pioneering method for simulating the highly complex aquaplaning phenomenon

With exhibits from over 290 of the world's most important suppliers in tire manufacturing, Tire Technology Expo is a must-attend tire industry event. The conference took place this year in Hanover, Germany from February 20 to 22, 2018.
Corentin Hermange, PhD student at Centrale Nantes in the H2i team (LHEEA laboratory) from 2014 to 2017, won the "Young Scientist Prize" ahead of 15 other candidates by presenting the results of his thesis entitled "Numerical simulation of fluid-structure interactions in the aquaplaning problem ". His thesis work had led to the establishment of a pioneering method for simulating the highly complex aquaplaning phenomenon”.
He commented, 
Corentin is currently working as “Tire Performance Analysis” in Michelin's R&D laboratory in Clermont-Ferrand. His job is to understand and model the mechanisms behind grip on wet roads.
He commented,
It is a great honour to receive this award for my PhD work, especially as at the beginning of my education I wanted to work in the maritime industry building large boats. Then I was approached by two individuals who presented this exciting research subject concerning the hydroplaning phenomenon. That is how I began this adventure and I do not regret my choice. I would like to thank this two people, my PhD supervisor Prof David Le Touzé from the LHEEA laboratory and Christian Mignot from Michelin. They provided me with this opportunity and the resources to accomplish this task. Furthermore, I also would like to thank all the people who helped me in my work, at Michelin and at the LHEEA laboratory of École Centrale de Nantes.
