In its Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility Action Plan, Centrale Nantes set itself the objective of being recognised for its actions.

Rankings

Centrale Nantes well placed in the ranking of engineering schools most committed to transition, compiled by Les Echos START and ChangeNOW

Centrale Nantes was ranked in joint fifth place (alongside Centrale Lyon) in the 2024 ranking.
This independent ranking which was introduced in 2021 is designed to measure and evaluate - over time - the efforts made by schools and universities in terms of ecological and social transition. It is based on 6 criteria:
   

Centrale Nantes in the world's top 600 - Times Higher Education "Impact Rankings" 2024

Centrale Nantes performed well on four goals in particular:
  • Build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation - top 200 (SDG 9)
  • Promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all - top 400 (SDG 8)
  • Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns - top 400 (SDG 12)
  • Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts - top 600 (SDG 13)


Labels

Sustainable development and social responsibility label for higher education

The sustainable development and social responsibility label for higher education (DD&RS) was created by the Conférence des Grandes Écoles (CGE), the Conférence des Présidents d'Université (CPU), the Ministry for Sustainable Development, the Ministry for Higher Education and Research and the Réseau des Etudiants pour une société écologique et solidaire (RESES).

It assesses higher education establishments in the following areas:

  • strategy and governance
  • education and training
  • research and innovation
  • campus environmental management
  • social policy

In 2024, a sustainable development project manager was recruited to prepare Centrale Nantes' application.
