"I like the teaching style here. Professors teach from the easier to the deeper and they can talk hours about their fields confidently while fully open to doubts and questions as well."

"I am a double degree student in Centrale Pekin of Beihang University in China. When I was elected in this master program, I was very excited to know that I have the chance to study in France in one of the Centrale Schools. For me, I like information techniques and I love the way of processing data on a tiny computer which can make huge improvements on human life. And Centrale Nantes is the only one that has this signal and image processing program which I am interested in, so I quickly made my decision."
What do you think of the programme so far?
"I like the teaching style here. Professors teach from the easier to the deeper and they can talk hours about their fields confidently while fully open to doubts and questions as well. Along with tutorials and lab experiments, it’s not difficult to learn knowledge here. On the other hand, we’ve already learned some of the courses during our first year in China, but other students may have not. Therefore it is inappropriate and unfair to ask the professor to speed things up, but it is also a bit time-consuming to be in the classroom and start from the beginning together. The same situation may apply to others too."
What about student life on campus / in Nantes?
"I took part in a trip organized by BDX to Barcelona and it was cool. I often felt the passion and enthusiasm of young people in here. I wish I know more French so that I can communicate more with others and participate in some associations in campus. Most people in Nantes are very kind and it is a very calm city. I like to wander aimlessly by the river or in the city center which makes me feel relax. Everything fits me well, and almost all the inconvenience comes from language and timidity."
Any advice for new applicants?
"Learn more French before coming, life could be twice as easy and exciting."
What are your plans for the future?
"I am still considering whether to work or study for a Ph.D. If I make progress on my master’s thesis, I’ll try to apply a Ph.D. to do further research. Otherwise I will prefer to work in a company for now, in programming, data analysis or algorithms design. I’m also interested in developing user-friendly applications and the data analysis knowledge I’ve learned here would be useful to discover better user experience design."
