Class of 2018, Industrial Engineering
Originally from Paris, that's where I started my engineering studies. At Centrale Nantes I specialised in Industrial Engineering in my second year. In parallel, I was president of the Student Association and Secretary General of the C5 Association. After undertaking a gap year in the army I completed my studies with an MSc Business Analysis & Strategic Management in Manchester in 2018.
I was contacted by a consulting firm for digital business transformation assignments; I wanted to try consulting and discover a new city at the same time, so I moved to Lyon in 2018. I like the idea of helping people and organizations transform themselves to do a better job, but with everything that has happened since the start of the 2018 school year, I no longer see things the same way. I'm looking for something more meaningful.
It's not given enough prominence, that's the sad truth. Awareness of these issues has spread massively since the summer of 2018, not to the same extent before. It creates a real dilemma in our minds as new entrants in the workforce and is a source of much discussion with my contemporaries!
Leave my current job (summer 2019) and work part-time in Lyon, to give me time to find what I want to do and to study. Maybe something related to environmental change, perhaps in different structures (private companies, civil service, associations etc.)
How to be organised and efficient (engineering studies), work well and quickly, not waste time, identify the logic behind people's reasoning quickly and understand how to motivate them (thanks to the association management and the army!) The content, I kind of forgot.
Student community, the balance between sports, associations and university life. The perfect setting to develop and grow as a person and to choose the topics that interest us via associations! And the diversity of the Industrial Engineering course is great.
Well, whatever school you want to apply to, you have to work hard. At Centrale, you can become a little more yourself (through art, sports, business, IT, charitable or humanitarian associations etc). Go for it!
